In-house Commercial Solicitor

Our Oxfordshire located client is an international manufacturing company. It has manufacturing, R&D and sales operations in the UK and abroad, and a dedicated legal department that services the various Group companies. Due to an upcoming emigration of a team member, the legal department seeks to recruit a replacement as In-house Commercial Solicitor / Legal Counsel.

Under the direction of the Group Legal Director and Group Commercial Manager, the In-house Commercial Solicitor will have involvement across a broad brush of commercial, corporate, IP, IT, property, compliance, employment, insurance and other ad hoc matters. The post-holder will assist the Group Commercial Manager with tenders and contract review; will support on corporate transactions; will advise on and support occasional employment tribunal matters; will help to ensure the company meet all contractual and regulatory obligations; and will manage external advisors to ensure a timely and cost effective outcome.

At its heart, this role is commercial law in focus and so the post-holder is expected to possess existing experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts. A working knowledge of company law and contract law is a prerequisite and any additional legal knowledge is a nice to have. Existing in-house experience is advantageous although not essential.
