Derivatives Lawyer

6 months - £day rate

London – Canary Wharf

Superb contract opportunity (6 months, starting asap) for a lawyer to support the pre-eminent collateral management business in London, at a major global bank.  This would suit someone who either had prior experience in supporting a business of this type, or who has had exposure to one or more of the relevant practice areas, being principally derivatives, securities finance and custody, and would like to apply their experience in a new and unique way.  Candidates from private practice or in-house, and with sell or buy side experience, are welcome to apply.

The engagement will see you working on a range of agreement types pursuant to which the bank is engaged to manage the calculation, exchange and safekeeping of collateral between parties to derivatives, repo, securities lending and financing agreements.

The engagement will predominantly entail negotiating collateral management and related agreements with the bank’s clients, but potentially also some involvement in product development and analysis of current regulatory developments as they apply to this business.
You would be working on-site in the bank’s legal department in Canary Wharf.  It is renowned as one of the most collegiate legal teams in town, with a sensible approach to work life balance, good leadership and camaraderie.

There is flexibility in the professional experience of the person, in acknowledgement of the fact that ‘collateral management’ is an extremely niche area.  Whilst lawyers of any PQE are welcome to apply, it is suggested that given the composition of the existing team, a lawyer of between 3 and 7 years of PQE would probably complement the others best.

Please note, you must be a fully qualified lawyer admitted to practice (flexible on jurisdiction).
