Expanding US law firm is looking to hire a new Business Development Manager to work predominantly in their expanding Funds group however to also offer BD support across all of the firm’s practice areas.  This position will be an initial 6 month Fixed Term Contract.  You will be responsible for implementing the business development goals and strategies of the London office as well as support to international offices. You will assist with the development and implementation of the practice groups’ action plans, keep assigned practice group apprised of market, client and competitor trends, identify target markets and new business opportunities, and evaluate and coordinate speaking and writing opportunities, conferences, seminars, and sponsorship opportunities. The Business Development Manager also oversees practice specific research and responses to client proposals/RFPs. Plus you will be expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s lawyers, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.  Duties will include working closely with the practice group Directors and Managers of Business Development, assist in the implementation of local practice groups’ business and action plans by coordinating and tracking the groups’ efforts, monitor and track plan implementation to ensure that deadlines are met and commitments are kept, identify, assess and coordinate conferences, seminars, forums, sponsorships, speaking and writing opportunities to ensure they are line with the goals of the practices, work with the marketing and communications team to develop, prepare and distribute brochures, advertisements, newsletters, and client mailings at the practice level, and promote exposure of the practices and individual lawyers, as appropriate, coordinate and implement internal and external practice events, with support from the marketing and communications team, oversee and facilitate communication among and between the local practices to promote the Firm’s international offering internally, request and disseminate research to teams on trends in the industry or area of law, manage client development expenses by office, track and maintain practice group experience for proposals, directory submissions, etc, prepare proposals/RFP responses in coordination with the lawyers and Director of Business Development. Keep track of proposal wins and losses, ensure that the firm’s marketing materials are updated quarterly and appropriately reflect practice group experience and expertise, provide assigned local practice groups with regular updates regarding new business opportunities, market trends and competitive threats, identify opportunities to offer new services or enhance existing services in order to attract high-value work and enhance value provided to clients, facilitate internal communication about successes and opportunities within and among the practice groups, utilizing communication vehicles such as BizDev Briefings, the portal, press clips, etc and work with the marketing and communications team to develop marketing messages, seminar ideas, media lists and opportunities, advertising and other marketing tools.  Candidates must have previous Business Development management experience from within a law firm and ideally have undertaken business development across multiple practice areas including funds although this is not essential.  Candidates must be degree educated.
