The Legal Team
Worldwide, the legal department consists of 300 lawyers and 8 of them are based in Paris. The legal team is truly innovative, having started using advanced technology over 10 years ago. The General Counsel is held in awe and admiration by all in his team - he is funny, strategic, incredibly intelligent and hard-working. His philosophy is to “hire people smarter than himself” – this is the attitude that is cascaded down to Regional Legal Directors and he acknowledges that the team members are the pillars of the success of the legal function.
As a new member of the team you would find the degree of sharing of knowledge and resources truly amazing. Every conceivable task has been automated. The tracking of contracts is brilliant; the approval process is totally automated; there is a separate group of lawyers who do the NDA agreements with very fast return times; no lawyer ever has to chase a contract signature or copy – it is all taken care of by a specialist global function. There is a constant sharing of information and experience.
In-house counsels here are business enablers and are often the people recommending a decision to their executive teams — and in some cases, they make the judgment calls themselves. The legal team is viewed and respected as business enabler, strategic agents and opportunity makers; they are encouraged to always devote their efforts to enabling the business – risk management being about 10 -20% of the overall effort, with the rest of the focus being on helping other departments in the business do their jobs.
The work would be cross-border – you would be working on international legal matters.
Your Manager
Your manager would be a Regional Legal Director who has been with the business for 10 years and previously worked for top international law firms, a very nice, honest and ethical person, keen to develop, coach and train the legal team. This person came on secondment – “It was an eye opener, what a fantastic company”- and has been there for 11 years since.

Your skills and experience
They are looking for a talented legal counsel with 7-12 years of experience, particularly with strong skills in drafting technology contracts, some knowledge of IP, Data Protection and Privacy law, fluent in English and French.
