Design Attorney
A global retailer is seeking an experienced Design Attorney to join their in house legal team. Reporting into the Category Head, this role will include all the day to day strategic and operational responsibility for the design rights. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 2 -6 years* experience as an IP lawyer or Design/Patents Attorney who is looking to take their next challenge within a global retail company.
Daily duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* To devise and implement appropriate and relevant design filing strategies for each area of the business.
* Managing conflicts specifically relating to designs across the world.
* To keep abreast of any changes in design registration in key territories.
* Working closely with the company's in-house Patent Attorneys to understand the needs of individual Research, Design and Development (RDD) projects as far as design protection is concerned.
* To devise and agree with the Patent Attorneys a designs filing regime appropriate for each individual RDD project.
* Managing and supervising the agreed filing regimes.
* To handle the prosecution of all design applications.
* To work with the company's associates to understand the intricacies of enforcement of design rights in key territories.
* To create and implement a system of using knowledge of design enforcement to inform and develop filing strategies for key territories.
* To assist with the handling of other conflict matters as necessary.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified IP Lawyer or Design/Patents Attorney with expertise in Design either within private practice or in house. You must also have a strong analytical ability to absorb large quantities of information and be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with an acute grasp on Intellectual Property Design Rights. This role would suit an individual who thrives on delivering results in a cost effective manner and who enjoys working within a company of a global structure.
