Legal Counsel

A leading provider of risk and asset management software and services to the insurance industry is looking for a Mandarin or German speaking newly qualified Legal Counsel to join the business. European or Antipodean lawyers that speak Mandarin or German and possess the below experience are also encouraged to apply. This role can be based in Reading or London.

The business is growing quickly, is fast paced and has a unique culture. The Legal Counsel position reports to the Associate General Counsel EMEA and will work with the legal department on a wide range of legal, corporate compliance, and business matters involving the group of companies. The incumbent must have experience partnering effectively with sales, products, and other key stakeholders to obtain necessary information, conduct legal analysis, and help ensure that all interests of the affected business units are appropriately represented in the applicable legal contracts.

More specifically experience in the following areas is required:
- Manage total contract lifecycle including RFP, drafting, editing, negotiation, execution, and ongoing management of all new and existing agreements to ensure business needs are met while minimising the risk to the business
- This includes, but is not limited to, service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, independent contract agreements, statements of work, inbound and outbound data and software licensing agreements, letters of intent, termination notices, amendments and proof of concept agreements, etc.
- Research and resolve on-going contract issues.
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc), creating relations of trust

Professional qualifications
- Qualified Lawyer inc a European/Antipodean jurisdiction
- Proven Experience as a legal counsel in business environment
- Demonstrated skills in vendor management and/or contract negotiation is required; experience in software licenses a plus.
- Drafts and/or edits legal commercial agreements such as NDA's, master services agreements, and software licensing agreements.
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- German/Mandarin proficiency
