A leading international education business is looking for a lawyer with a litigation background for a broad commercial in-house role.
The organisation includes a number is high profile and renowned educational institutions and the company continues to add to its portfolio of investments. Reporting to the Group General Counsel in London, the role will involve dealing with contentious matters as well as dealing with commercial issues, both at the UK and Group level. More specifically, the successful candidate will be providing advice on supplier and lease agreements, assisting on compliance issues, and assisting with all other work that the legal team undertakes.
Additionally, the successful candidate will be involved in representing the company in respect of prosecutions relating to contractual disputes and student refund claims amongst others. On the commercial side the successful candidate will be involved in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, such as agreements of an employment and property law nature amongst others. Experience in commercial litigation, in reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and in compliance matters is essential. Experience in the education sector is not a requisite, although may be an advantage.
This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded lawyer, looking to join a fast-paced, ever-changing and consumer oriented organisation. Candidates must have trained with a strong and reputable law firm and have post qualification commercial law experience in private practice. Previous in-house experience is advantageous but not necessary.
