An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Director of Legal Services with a major Local Authority in the Essex region.

The Council is looking for an Assistant Director of Legal Services to lead, manage and be accountable for 2 teams of lawyers providing legal services across Property & Development, Litigation, Contracts, Employment, Licensing and general Local Government Law as well as the Council's Local Land Charges Service. Additionally the post-holder will act as Deputy Monitoring Officer to the Local Authority.

There is huge potential for career progression and development here as the current Director of Legal Services is due to retire over the next 18 months - 2 years. The successful candidate for this position would be joining the Council with a view to stepping into the Legal Director role.

Candidates should have significant experience of working in a Local Authority setting and knowledge of the procedures that govern this sector. Experience of managing a legal team is also highly desirable.

This is a permanent opportunity and remuneration packages are generous and flexible depending on candidate experience. There is also a significant relocation allowance for candidates who wish to apply from further afield.
