Legal Advisor – Private Banking

Our client, a leading international private bank is looking for a Legal Advisor to join their Legal Department and work with the business and other departments to mitigate legal risks and help facilitate the business. The individual would contribute to develop and maintain regulatory standards to enhance and protect the reputation of the firm.

Duties Include:

• Identify the legal risks in the business and ensure that it meets applicable laws and regulations across the UK and EU jurisdictions.
• Provide advice in legal matters for the benefit of the bank.
• Assist in contract negotiations and drafting of tailor-made contracts.
• Provide contract monitoring support throughout the signing process.
• Advice in all legal matters in connection with the private banking business.
• Provide legal advice and guidance to the business and Senior Management in relation to existing and new business initiatives emerging risks.
• Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements for the business.
• Provide subject matter expertise for the formulation of Private Banking activity global control standards.
• Ensure that adequate procedures are in place to monitor, control and mitigate contractual, litigation, legislative and intellectual property risk.
• Contribute in important meetings with operations, risk and regulatory committees and provide effective advice.
• Prepare and review general banking agreements.
• Liaise with external regulators in regards to queries and issues.
• Lead or assist in ad hoc projects when necessary.

The preferred candidate will possess a background in Law within a bank, consultancy or law firm and demonstrate a good understanding of financial services and EU & UK legal frameworks. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to deal with Senior Management in Luxembourg and abroad.
