Childcare Solicitor

The individual employed will be responsible for Social Care law matters in regards to Children and Adult Services.

I will also be your responsibility to ensure that robust and effective legal advice is provided and ensuring representation for the Council in Courts, Tribunals, Inquiries, Hearings and Negotiations.

The client is a busy and large county council based in Wales and have the capacity to offer the individual employed a variety of work to make it an interesting and broad role.

Description

- To undertake, provide and assist in the Legal Services provided to Children and Adult Services

- To represent the Council in legal and quasi legal proceedings in negotiations and generally in its relations with outside bodies and the public

- To ensure that all legal proceedings comply with the Public Law Order (PLO) timescales

- To maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant legal issues and legal practice management matters

- To prepare complex legal documentation and negotiate thereon with outside bodies, to include the preparation and drafting of all legal documentation required in the preparation of Court proceedings

- To actively assist in the case and file management systems adopted by the legal services department

- To appear on behalf of the Council in the Magistrates Court, County Court, High Court and Tribunals on Social Care matters or any other matters as allocated by the Senior Solicitor

Profile

We are looking for an engaging and experienced childcare solicitor, ideally with local authority experience. Private practice candidates with the relevant knowledge are also desirable. The individual must be approachable and able to work well in a small team and be able to manage their own case load as well as working collaboratively with both internal and external bodies.

This client will be seeking an individual to start as soon as possible. Individuals who could start within 2 weeks of accepting an offer will be regarding as incredibly helpful to the client, however, those with a longer notice period will still be considered.
