Our client based in East London is looking to recruit a new Legal Officer (Rent possessions & Court Officer) for a 6 month initial contract
Your duties will include:
*Checking & advising on Notices of Seeking Possession and Notices to Quit
*Checking compliance with Rent Arrears Pre-Action Protocol
*Drafting and issue of Possession Claims using the PCOL online service
*Complying with the procedural requirements of CPR 55 in preparing the Claim for hearing
*Attending and representing the Council at possession hearings, or briefing Counsel
*Issuing Warrants for Possession, with permission where required, and dealing with urgent applications to suspend Warrants, including attendance and representation on applications to suspend
*Dealing with applications to set aside possession orders, and conduct of some defended claims, including disrepair counterclaims, and summary hearings
*Dealing with cases quickly and efficiently, keeping clients informed, chasing up court hearing or eviction dates, and maintaining & updating a monthly report to clients
The following skills are required:
*Experience in local government law, litigation and housing matters
*The ability to analyse factual situations, research the relevant law and apply it.
