A well known retail organisation is looking to grow their group legal function and hire a legal counsel to support on a range or corporate and commercial work.

Description

Responsibilities for the Legal Counsel - Consumer / Retail will include:

• Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Supporting a wide range of transactions across the group
• Support for initiatives to improve procurement and other business systems.
• Advice on Health & Safety
• Advice on employment-related issues
• Liaison with colleagues and external counsel to ensure corporate compliance with data protection legislation and preparation for GDPR
• Support with aspects of insurance
• Monitoring of compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements affecting the business and advise on upcoming legislative and regulatory changes

Profile

Suitable candidates will have the following skills / experience:

• A UK qualified solicitor with a minimum of 2 years post qualified experience
• Demonstrable experience in corporate / commercial transactions is essential.
• Understanding of corporate governacne is highly desirable
• Experience in advising on Health & Safety regulations / procedure is highly desirable.
• Experience / understanding of the GDPR will be highly beneficial.

Candidates need to be able to commit to 5 days in the office at the Oxfordshire site.
