My client is the UK's largest supplementary education provider, offering maths and English study programmes for children of all ages and abilities, operating all over the world.

As their presence in Germany has grown, they are in turn growing their UK legal team which covers the German regions. As such, I have been instructed on an exciting new German speaking Paralegal position within their legal function.

Purpose of the job

  • Day to day responsibility for all of the business's Europe & Africa legal matters including:
  • Franchise agreements
  • Commercial contracts
  • Defending and issuing claims
  • Data Protection Compliance
  • Intellectual Property
  • Commercial Property
  • Child Protection and Safeguarding
  • Health & Safety
  • Research and advise on legal business compliance necessary to ensure the business meets all statutory requirements in the international expansion countries and Germany ("Relevant Territories") and to assist with the drafting of the associated documentation
  • To be a point of contact for the business in relation to any legal questions and issues that may arise, and to provide sound commercial advice in line with the requirements of the business
  • To collaborate with stakeholders and external counsel in order to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation in the Relevant Territories and reduce risk
  • To assist with the implementation and revising of processes, policies and procedures
  • Keep up to date and research changes in the law in all Relevant Territories and proactively advise the business accordingly
  • To draft, review, amend and negotiate commercial contracts such as supplier agreements, terms and conditions and all other relevant agreements
  • To deal with all legal issues relating to the Franchise Agreement and franchisees
  • To keep up to date with legislation that may impact the business and to advise relevant stakeholders of the impact of new legislation and course of action
  • To support and train other Associates and Franchisees as necessary
  • To attend meetings as and when required. There may be a necessity for these to be outside of normal working hours and international travelling may be involved.

The client is seeking someone with the following:

  • Good knowledge or German law
  • German speaker (business fluent)
  • Completed the LPC or German equivalent
  • Degree level graduate
  • GSCEs: Maths and English at grade A or B
