Unique new permanent role for a newly qualified (NQ) lawyer to make the move in-house on qualification and join a major international business, working in their commercial department and based in their offices in Glasgow.  

Role Profile:

Working as part of a leading international manufacturing company, you will be part of a bespoke legal team based in Scotland but supporting the business on a global scale. This role is due to continued growth within the business and you will be working with an established and highly successful niche legal team, reporting directly into the Senior Legal Counsel.  The role will include advising primarily on general commercial and commercial contracts matters and will include:

  • Drafting of a wide variety of contracts and legal documentation.
  • Providing support in commercial and contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers.
  • Providing legal input for bids and tenders.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive database and working knowledge of all contract documents.
  • Monitoring changes in relevant legislative and regulatory environments, assessing impact on the business and taking appropriate action.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Newly qualified (Summer 2017) lawyers must have at least a 6 month seat in a commercial department as part of their traineeship and should be able to demonstrate experience of commercial contracts. Candidates with a higher level of PQE and with commercial contracts backgrounds are also invited to apply. 
  • Candidates should have experience of drafting and negotiating contracts and legal documents/ agreeements. 
  • Excellent communication skills,  both oral and written
  • Confident team player, able to work in a small team with the pressures of tight deadlines and also to work independently when required.
  • Candidates with experience in: Projects, PFI, Construction, Energy, Engineering, Managed Services, Renewables or Oil & Gas are of particular interest. 
  • In-House secondment experience would be an advantage but not essential.
