Detailed Job Description
We are currently looking for an exceptional commercial/ IP lawyer to join our busy legal department in Oxford. In this role you'll be responsible for advancing and protecting the business interest whilst maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations, with particular focus on Asia Education and ELT matters in the Asia region. To do this you'll need to be passionate about making a positive impact and confident in building relationships.
Core areas of responsibility will include:
- drafting a wide range of commercial agreements (relating to print and online publishing, appointment of agents and distributors, rights licensing, e-commerce, e-books)
- providing pro-active business partnering to clients of all levels in the Asia Education and ELT Divisions
- supporting the anti-bribery and related compliance activities of the legal department
- providing day-to-day advice to clients of all levels within OUP, including advising clients in Asia
Candidate's Profile
You will need to be a UK qualified solicitor with at least 3 years relevant and proven experience ideally gained in a law firm and in-house, with keen business instincts and excellent drafting, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
You will have strong academic credentials, and a working knowledge of copyright law. There will be some travelling involved, and a working knowledge of Mandarin is desirable but not essential.
