Role: Learning & Development Manager (FTC)

Reporting to: Senior L&D Manager

Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 9:30 - 5:30 (with flexibility around these times to meet deadlines and requirements of the role). National and international travel will also be required. Although this is a full time role we will consider a part time arrangement (four days a week or a nine day fortnight).

 

Department/ Role Overview:

The global L&D team is a centralised team based in two hubs, Sydney and London, with support in Melbourne and Glasgow. The Head of L&D is based in Sydney. The team members based in London comprises a Senior L&D Manager, a L&D Manager and a L&D Advisor with a L&D Administrator in Glasgow. There are comparable team members in Australia. The global L&D team works closely and collaboratively, providing the same high quality learning experience and global offerings to our people in 25 offices around the world. To align with time differences, our facilitators in the UK primarily deliver training to our 13 offices across EMEA/US.

A high-profile, business-focused role contributing to the design, delivery and evaluation of L&D programmes across EMEA and US, including development of lawyers, trainees and graduates, business support and secretarial staff, and wider project involvement, as well as client training.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assessment of training needs for lawyers and business support staff in EMEA and US offices.
  • Design and delivery of face-to-face and online business skills training for lawyers and business support staff in EMEA and US offices as part of the global business skills programme.
  • Design and delivery of business skills training on an ad hoc basis to support practice and business support teams.
  • Design and delivery of business skills training programmes on an ad hoc basis to clients.
  • One to one coaching as needed.
  • Contribution to L&D and wider HR projects, infrastructure and administration as needed.
  • Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requires and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Significant experience in business skills training programme design and delivery to wide audiences.
  • Understanding of the legal environment and lawyers' work practices.
  • Confident and personable, adept at building rapport and building effective working relationships, and at working with people at different levels.
  • Client-focused and able to adapt to different audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills (written, spoken and presentational) and influencing skills.
  • Proactive with excellent organisational skills and able to multi-task, manage own workload and work to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team and autonomously

Desired skills and experience

  • Experience of working within a professional services environment.
  • Foundation level CIPD qualification or equivalent.
  • Psychometric accreditations.
  • Coaching qualification.
  • Experience of online training delivery.
  • International training design and delivery experience.
  • Experience of Learning Management Systems.
  • Language skills could include French, Spanish and German
