In-House Company Solicitor

My client, a global household name, is seeking to recruit a Sole In-house Legal Counsel. The role will provide legal advice to the business in the UK and Northern Europe.

The role has many facets including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts that provide financial and related services to customers as well as advising the business of and ensuring compliance with new and existing laws & regulations pertaining to the finance industry. Reviewing existing and creating new template finance agreements and security documents and establishing legal best practices, policies and procedures. Advising on Consumer Credit Act and FCA Compliance, responding to FCA Audits and Questionnaires, managing FCA Approved Person/Senior Manager returns and advising office holders and senior managers of their personal responsibilities.

The role will also have responsibility for all other ad-hoc legal matters.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with a solid commercial background, preferably who has undertaken in-house roles with experience of asset based finance, financial services regulation, insurance mediation, anti-money laundering regulation, general commercial law and data protection. You will possess excellent organisational, prioritisation, communication, negotiation and drafting skills coupled with an ability to work on your own initiative, often as part of cross-functional teams, with minimal supervision.

With at least 7 years relevant experience, preferably in the asset finance industry or similar you will have demonstrable understanding of the following areas: commercial contracts, guarantees, asset-based financing, financial services regulation (including consumer credit, FCA compliance, insurance mediation), data protection, anti-money laundering), and risk management.
