Our West Midlands based client is a leading, well-capitalised and ambitious player in the power generation sector. They have expanded rapidly across the UK with the backing of significant investment funds and a major UK bank.


The organisation is seeking to appoint a permanent, high-calibre and experienced Head of Legal to partner with the Managing Director and the business.


The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor with considerable experience in an in-house legal role. You will be able to demonstrate a commercial, pragmatic and 'hands-on' approach to problem solving and will have experience in working alongside senior members of an executive team. Managing a small team you will be responsible for the delivery of sound, practical and commercial legal support to the business, working closely with the MD and the Board.


The key outcome of this role is to provide a comprehensive, cost effective legal service to the business.


This is a generalist role and you will be required to provide advice on all legal matters pertaining to the business. There will be a particular focus on Commercial Property including the drafting and negotiating of leases, agreement for lease, sale and purchase agreements, transfers and planning agreements. The role will also advise on all aspects of Landlord and Tenant law. The other key area is Commercial Contract work where you will be required to draft and negotiate amongst other areas supply agreements, asset sale and purchase agreements, JV agreements and NDA's.


A qualified solicitor you will have a background either in property, commercial or corporate work and have demonstrable ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management and a Board of Directors. You will have an in-house background and will be able to demonstrate the right level of commerciality. Experience of the energy sector is preferred.


You will be able to demonstrate sound judgement, an innovative approach to problem solving, an absolute dedication to the company and a desire to work as part of a highly committed team coupled with a proven ability to efficiently manage a large volume of transactions all at once with shared admin support and no legal secretary/paralegal.
