Our client, a leading commercial/corporate firm in Leeds is looking to bring a Team Leader into their devoted Conveyancing department.

The role:

As the firm has key work with large residential developers and housing companies across the UK, the main purpose of this role is to ensure that the transactional teams are supported, directed and led effectively, in support of the firm's SLAs, borrower and referrer requirements and the firm's wider strategic objectives.

There are two core elements to this role that will enable the Conveyancing Team Leader to assume the day-to-day supervision of the transactional fee earners across the unit: people management and quality management.

Key responsibilities:

You must be able to motivate and lead our transactional fee earners, to ensure that all SLAs. KPIs, etc. are met and, where possible, that targets are exceeded. It will require you to work closely with them, to ensure that they are managing their caseloads effectively.

You will be involved in identifying and then resolving recruitment needs (such as short-listing and conducting interviews) and will perform an integral part of our performance management processes, such as holding probationary review meetings and annual appraisals. You will also be responsible for identifying and supporting on-going training and development requirements.

You will also take responsibility for investigating performance management concerns, working with managers and partners where appropriate, to ensure that they are addressed.

We are committed to enhancing the quality of our services, so you will work with the Quality and Technical Advisor to identify opportunities to do this. You will also liaise with her closely on identifying any issues which may lead to problems or complaints.

Required skills and experience

The successful candidate must have proven experience of leading, supervising or managing a large team of people.

You should be experienced in recruitment and in appraising people and have an ability to coach, train and mentor.

Most importantly, you must be approachable and have an open and personable style, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You need to be able to work in a demanding environment and be used to achieving targets, SLAs and/or KPIs.

You must also be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the residential conveyancing process, in areas such as freehold, leasehold, new build, right to buy, shared ownership transactions and unregistered titles.

You must also be adept at producing reports and other data, as part of a wider requirement for regular management information.
