Our client is an AIM Listed food manufacturing company based in Cardiff (UK HQ) is seeking a talented commercial lawyer to head up its legal function on a part time basis (3 days per week). You will take lead on in-house legal matters which is an array of Commercial law, Property, IP and Licence agreements. Liaise with senior stakeholders and provide legal support to ensure the implementation of relevant risk management policies. Candidates must have strong academics ideally with in-house experience gained from a leading manufacturing business. This is a newly created role offering a varied workload with the option to regularly work from home.
The Role
You will support the executive team and other regional offices on commercial law matters and will report to the CFO where in time you'll be a valued team member and 'go to' person in the Group. As part of your role you will develop a preferred legal suppliers list with a view to delivering defined quality of service. This is an excellent opportunity within a diverse environment where you will be exposed to a variety of commercial work with an element of IT/IP, compliance and employment. There is a requirement to form part of the internal audit program (twice annually across all sites) to ensure compliance with legal delegated authority requirements
The Candidate
You will be a Scottish and/or UK qualified solicitor with 4 yrs + gained from a leading law firm and in house commercial law experience (ideally from a PLC). You will be required to work autonomously with a pragmatic ability to advise on commercial (non legal) matters. Candidates must have strong academics from a recognised law school. You must be personable and be able to deal with challenging demands from the board of executives. Candidates must have excellent communication skills as you will be required to communicate effectively throughout the business.
