Your new role
The rapidly-growing "New Law" team supports many of the firm's leading clients, largely within the legal, corporate and financial services sector. They harness the expertise of the firm to provide end-to-end, technology-enabled services to meet clients' needs and they have developed and incubated some of the most innovative, agile and collaborative legal service solutions available in the marketplace.
The roles sit within the Special Projects (SP) team. The Special Projects team combine market leading legal expertise with cutting edge technology to support our global clients on various projects ranging from complex M&A transactions to regulatory reviews.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing multi-jurisdictional legal service projects (with a focus on Legal Due Diligence), including project initiation, resourcing, client contact project management and fee/scope management;
- Acting as subject matter expert on a range of legal related matters and drawing on industry knowledge and legal skill set to advise and guide clients and project teams throughout the process;
- Working with the technology teams to develop new technology enabled service offerings in line with client/market demands
- Contributing to the development of the New Law team and supporting team members in achieving personal and team goals.
What you'll need to succeed
The role requires strong academics, commercial experience and meticulous attention to detail with an ability to step back and assess the bigger picture where required.
You will be a talented and ambitious individual with a passion for client service and innovation - an individual that is interested in pursuing a career outside of traditional legal practice in a rapidly growing industry which is driven by changing market demands, cutting edge technology and innovative service delivery models.
You will ideally have the following experience and competencies:
- Qualified lawyer (2+ Years PQE) OR Experienced paralegal (5+ years' experience) with experience in a corporate, banking or in-house environment (but other experience will be considered);
- A highly analytical skill set with an ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and to evaluate large amounts of information for the purposes of identifying underlying key issues and their broader implications;
- Strong technical skills and an ability to exercise sound judgement when advising on complex and challenging legal issues;
- Ability to deliver legal service projects in line with tight deadlines and to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong communication and coaching skills with a focus on collaborative working and relationship building;
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team and to delegate and multi-task at various levels;
- Aptitude for innovation and learning, with a particular focus on the use of new technologies and on creative thinking with it comes to implementing bespoke client solutions.
The following will be an advantage:
- Experience of mergers and acquisitions (both buy side and sale side and cross border), private equity transactions and commercial arrangements;
- Fluency in a second language with an ability to translate documents into English (desirable);
- Experience in the use of legal technologies (including but not limited to SEAL, Exari, Relativity, Recommind, Luminance);
- Experience in a legal support services or LPO environment
- Project management experience
