Experienced finance and banking role, specialising in derivatives and finance. The role is full time for the contract duration of 9 months, based in Birmingham, paying £650 per day subject to experience.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Derivatives & Finance Legal Counsel

  • Reviewing counterparties' constitutional documents and ensuring that all requisite corporate consents and approvals are in place prior to finalisation of agreements and subsequent trading
  • Drafting and negotiating under appropriate supervision, amongst others, derivative contracts based on the ISDA documentation, credit support documents, including the new credit support documents for posting of initial margin (IM) and variation margin (VM) and the Euroclear and Clearstream security documents, repurchase transactions (TBMA/ISMA and SIFMA/ICMA Global Master Repurchase Agreements), securities lending (ISLA Global Master Securities Lending Agreement), deeds of guarantee, security documents (deeds of charge and deeds of pledge), account control agreements, novation agreements and other contracts relating to derivative transactions
  • Advising other internal departments on the legal implications of proposed deviations from the Bank's templates
  • Drafting contractual provisions under supervision, as and when required by your clients
  • Managing internal and external clients' expectations at all times especially with regard to the Bank policy and key operating procedures
  • Updating the status of negotiations in the bank's systems as required
  • Completing closing form upon the execution of the agreement and giving instructions to the administrative support team in order to update the Bank's record and IT systems
  • Assisting manager with identification, development and implementation of process improvements

Profile

The successful candidate would have the following skills and experience:

  • Qualified solicitor
  • Previous experience working a Derivatives & Finance Legal Counsel
  • Financial services, banking or corporate experience
  • They will need to be prepared to assume responsibility for their own workload from an early stage, managing priorities
  • Be involved in challenging and intellectually stimulating projects
  • Ability to deal with demands from internal and external customers.
  • Strong Team-players.
