A position is available for a lawyer in the Legal Department's Global Prime Finance (GPF) team. The team supports the bank's equities prime brokerage clients. Team members will work primarily on prime brokerage agreements, International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) Master Agreements, master confirmations, listed futures and options agreements and related prime brokerage documentation.

A leading global bank, with a base in Birmingham, looking for and experienced Global Prime Finance Legal counsel to start in September 2017.

Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Document negotiation within the Global Prime Finance (GPF) Legal team, reporting to the Head of Global Prime Finance, Birmingham
  • Drafting and negotiating complex master documentation including prime brokerage agreements, International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) Master Agreements, master confirmations, listed futures and options agreements and related prime brokerage documentation
  • Undertaking due diligence on counter-parties and assessing whether master agreements are eligible for regulatory netting.
  • Collaborative working as part of a team of negotiators in Birmingham
  • Responsibility for the achievement of agreed individual targets
  • Drafting contractual provisions as and when required by your clients
  • You will have responsibility for progressing matters, working with multiple stakeholders to resolve issues and progressing matters to a conclusion

Profile

The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor
  • Global Prime Finance legal counsel
  • Have previous banking and financial sector experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time and work-flow management skills
  • A flexible and hard working approach with a high level of accuracy & attention to detail
  • The ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • The ability to identify issues and develop successful solution
  • Ideally some previous experience in exposure to senior management or clients
  • The ability to read complex legal documentation
  • previous experience of negotiating English law governed finance documentation including at least some of the above mentioned documents
