Our client is a well established Law Firm with offices in the Manchester area.
They are now looking to appoint a Head of Conveyancing to manage the Firm's Residential Conveyancing business, managing and supervising the conveyancing team, assisting in the development of and then implementing strategies and plans, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Code of Conduct, the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) and other accreditations as appropriate and continued and profitable growth consistent with the objectives and values of the Firm.
Role
Main Duties to Include:
- Responsible for providing and leading a high quality residential conveyancing business.
- To be Head of Conveyancing for the purposes of the CQS and responsible for ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Code of Conduct, and money laundering and proceeds of crime legislation, the CQS and other accreditations as appropriate.
- Responsible for effective management of the residential conveyancing business within budgets, including leading, managing and developing staff to ensure optimum performance and motivation, maintaining exemplary levels of client care.
- Responsible for ensuring continued improvements in efficiency and effectiveness through use of case management system, other technology and internal procedures.
- Responsible for own caseload of conveyancing transactions, including the more complex or demanding transactions such as shared ownership, leasehold matters or sales and purchases of part and to see and advise clients of the firm generally.
- Responsible for implementing and participating in approved sales and marketing strategies and plans to ensure profitable growth of the business, including as and when appropriate new branch opportunities and new revenue streams. This will include making and maintaining contacts with referral partners such as estate agents.
- Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of the law relating to residential conveyancing and implementing any changes necessary to comply with such law and/or protect clients and the firm.
- Responsible for ensuring that the business complies with all statutory and regulatory
- requirements, such as the Solicitors Code of Conduct and money laundering and ensuring all internal operating standards, all relevant Policies and Procedures of the Firm.
- Such other duties as may reasonably fall within the scope of the job and/or which may reasonably be assigned from time to time.
- Reporting to Managing Partner responsible for the Department. Line Manager to conveyancing team members.
Candidate Profile and experience:
- At least 4 years PQE in Residential Conveyancing
- Qualified Solicitor
- Will have led a team
- Will have existing relationships with Lending Panels
- Able to generate new business
