The BBC Legal Division is responsible for providing legal advice to the BBC and for developing and implementing the BBC's legal strategy. The Commercial Legal team provides advice (including the negotiation and drafting of agreements) in relation to: procurements of strategic contracts for the BBC Group, commercial contracts relating to BBC Group projects, contractual standards and standard terms and conditions, joint ventures, partnerships, Company law, Corporate Governance, EU procurement law and Company Secretarial matters

This Digital and Technology Lawyer contract role is a three-month fixed term contract (possibility of being extended) based in London.

You will be working on a special project, you will work as the Legal and Business Affairs Manager, Consumer Technology and Products, Rights Legal and Business Affairs. The Consumer Technology and Products, Rights Legal and Business Affairs team gives legal and business affairs support for the BBC's digital services, including BBC Online and BBC iPlayer. They negotiate and give commercial advice on purchases of: digital products and content for BBC Online and consumer technology and services (mobile and VR apps, web analytics, moderation, design research, user testing, web performance testing, user authentication and personalisation services).

You will provide legal and business advice on digital and technology procurements, commercial contracts for software development, negotiating contracts (app development, mobile apps, online video, search, user experience and content licensing), copyright, IP, data protection and risk management.

  • You will be a Technology / Digital Lawyer with at least one years PQE (there is no upper limit regarding the amount of PQE)
  • Initially it will be a three-month contract, possibility of being extended
  • You will be available to start within two weeks
  • You should have a good technical background
  • Pay is up to £500 per day
