Corporate Counsel

Our client is a multi-billion turnover organisation with tens of thousands of staff across the UK and beyond. The company operates in a highly competitive industry sector and its products and services are used by millions of people every day.

An interesting vacancy has arisen for a commercially minded junior lawyer to work in their well established group legal department. The role has a corporate governance flavour to it, and could suit an individual with a corporate law background who is interested in company secretarial and governance matters.

You'd sit within the high calibre legal team, and work regularly with colleagues in the secretariat. The remit might include; rolling out new governance procedures across the Group and their various European subsidiaries; working with the corporate lawyers on review of legal tenders; reviewing of corporate structure of various European business entities, such as board compositions or legal peculiarities; assisting the corporate team on occasional M&A projects, group restructurings or other general corporate matters; and varied compliance and regulatory projects e.g. around data protection, environmental or health and safety matters.

You'll need to be an enthusiastic and personable solicitor with experience which may have been gained through working In-House or in Private Practice. A newly qualified lawyer with a background in corporate governance and the high level operations of how a business works, could find this an exceptionally fulfilling role with opportunities to grow within the business.
