Housing and Litigation Solicitor

Solicitor with Housing Litigation experience required to join a local authority in Leicestershire.


Your new company
Hays are currently working in partnership with a well-established, leading local authority. Due to a busy period for the organisation, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Housing Litigation solicitor with public sector background on a locum basis.

Your new role
You will be expected to manage your own casework and provide your expertise in the areas of Housing, Environmental Health and Benefit Fraud. Moreover, you will support your colleagues and council officers at all levels, including advocacy, training and complex document drafting and review. You'll also attend council, cabinet and committee meetings and advise on Housing matters. The post may also involve some licensing work.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role you will be a UK qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 5 years PQE, ideally with experience of working within the public sector environment. You will have an excellent knowledge of Housing law as well as Criminal and Civil litigation rules. You will also have a good working knowledge of local government procedures and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
