My client is a charity organisation which is seeking to appoint a commercial lawyer to provide commercial and legal support across the organisation in respect of a wide range of commercial matters. Providing support for the organisation's procurement review project, the post holder will be a key contributor in delivering value to the Charity by driving value through its procurement processes and contracts. The post holder will be required to review a variety of commercial procurement contracts, including complex contractual documentation requiring bespoke drafting.

Main areas of responsibility
- Provide commercial support for the organisation's procurement review project;
- Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of routine and complex contractual documentation;
- Draft complex bespoke contracts where required;
- Provide proactive support, advice and guidance on commercial matters and procurement contracts;
- Proactively review, advise, negotiate and report on legal and contractual risks and mitigation strategies;
- Support departments in their management of legal and contractual risks and relationships;
- Monitor trends and issues in relevant business function or commercial matters; identify common themes and recommend action to address these and/or to raise awareness;
- Support implementation of organisational processes for managing and mitigating legal and commercial risks, and identifying new and emerging risks and issues;
- Help support a culture and practice of commercial awareness and risk management;
- Provide advice and support as subject matter expert in respect of areas of specialist expertise as required
- Other legal advice and support activities as required by the organisation from time to time
Prior commercial experience
- Good commercial knowledge and understanding
- Prior experience of contract drafting and negotiation
- Professional experience within a regulated business environment
- Extensive commercial legal specialism
- Experience working in a broad in-house legal role in a complex environment
- Experience in the charity and/or healthcare sectors
