This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior associate (or equivalent) to make a move Offshore to the Channel Islands to head an Employment practice for Guernsey at a major Offshore firm.
Our client is one of the top Offshore law firms and they are looking for an entrepreneurial senior Employment Lawyer with a desire to run the employment practice for their Guernsey office and also link in with their wider Offshore network.
Experience of both contentious and non-contentious employment work is vital and, as an indication, our client would expect the successful candidate to have at least 10 years of post-qualification experience and be able to work confidently and autonomously in an employment role, running their own matters whilst still fitting into the wider Offshore practice.
This role could suit someone who is currently at Partner level, provided they were comfortable taking an Of Counsel position initially, and would be ideal for someone who is an existing Senior or Managing Associate. Our client is equally interested in candidates who may be working in the Regional offices of larger UK law firms as they are in candidates who are currently based in the City.
There is existing employment work that will be able to be carried out from day one, but there is also an obvious emphasis on business development in order to win new instructions and gain market share from competitor firms.
There is good opportunity for progression to partnership in the short to medium term for someone that is technically and commercially self-sufficient and who takes the role and runs with it in order to make a success of it.
Working in Guernsey comes with many benefits including:
- On the financial side, as well as a base salary of between £100,000 - £130,000 (depending on experience), income tax is a maximum of 20%, meaning the salary equates to approximately £130,000 - £165,000 before tax on the UK mainland to get the same take-home pay.
- Work/life balance Offshore is excellent, and there is a real emphasis placed on home and family life.
- Guernsey is a fantastic place to live - with beautiful scenery and wonderful beaches and virtually no pollution or crime to speak of. It also has excellent free and fee-paying schools for those with families.
