ACS are looking for a Senior Credit Controller to join the Liverpool office of a well-established law firm on a full time basis.

The successful candidate will be expected to work within the Finance department, and be responsible for managing debt levels on your own set of accounts

Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • To manage and maintain debt to an acceptable level within your own portfolio of work
  • Main point of contact for all technical problems.
  • Take the lead with query resolution
  • Take the lead in major projects which involve Credit Control and Finance
  • Monitor problem debt with Credit Controller and escalate to senior management when applicable
  • Deputise for the Credit Manager as and when required
  • Working with the team to implement a strategy to reduce debt greater than 6 months across all Business Groups
  • Super User for the AR (Accounts Receivable) system
  • Arrange regular meetings with Partners and Fee Earners to discuss action to be taken on overdue debt
  • Reduce overall debt greater than 12 months
  • Regularly review the clients who are on hold and challenge where necessary
  • Produce reports to monitor debt levels on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Roll out systems training to team members to help them work more efficiently
  • Ensuring all new starters are trained to a high level, to enable them to carry out their day to day activities
  • Good overall knowledge of taking legal action, making business decisions on whether it is cost effective to sue the client

Requirements of the candidate include:

  • Demonstrable proven experience in a credit control environment in previous role
  • Experience acting as a deputy team leader / manager
  • Experience dealing with stakeholders at different levels
  • Excellent overall knowledge of credit control activities
  • Experience using ARCS system with the ability to write processed, produce reports and utilise system functionality
  • Ability to be assertive when handling difficult situations or people
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Good analytic and problem solving skills to help with query resolution and assist team members
  • Advanced IT skills across a broad range of applications including MS Excel
  • Organised individual with good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as use own initiative
