Our client is one of the largest law firms in the world whose legal specialists operate in a multitude of sectors, including financial institutions, energy and natural resources, food and transport.

They are looking to recruit a Senior Finance Manager; the successful candidate will ideally come from a Commercial Finance background and have experience managing a team of professional and analysts. The main responsibilities for this role are to work with the Head of the Practice group and the group’s management team to ensure robust financial management of the group, driving performance improvement and providing a high-quality finance business partnering service.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the reporting, analysis and commentary of the practice group’s financial performance both in management meetings and for inclusion in practice group management meetings
  • Providing senior level commercial finance support to the practice group head, including support on new business case development, pitch support and recruitment proposals
  • Leading monthly financial performance review meetings with the practice group head and management team
  • Responsibility for leading and co-ordinating practice group budgeting, planning and forecasting as well as contributing to target setting
  • Ensuring awareness within the practice group of potential statutory, regulatory and tax issues and obtaining support on these from the appropriate specialists within the firm as needed
  • Proactively identifying areas of under or over performance in the businesses within the group, seeking to understand the drivers for these and making recommendations
  • Understanding the financial control and statutory reporting environment for the business, including supporting the appropriate legal entity recharges and signing off on the content of the statutory accounts of the different legal entities within the practice group
  • To participate in the management and leadership of the wider finance team
  • Leadership, performance management and development of a part qualified finance analyst

Candidate Profile

  • Commercial finance background, able to demonstrate the creation of a results driven environment 
  • Strong knowledge of management information systems (including Excel) and making best use of these for reporting purposes 
  • Experience of managing a team of qualified professionals and analysts in essential
