My Client is a growing international law firm specializing in litigation and dispute resolution, particularly in the insurance, reinsurance and liability areas. They have offices spanning the globe and over 1000 employees, with headquarters in the City of London and several other offices in the UK.
They are looking to recruit a Partnership Tax Manager to join their Finance Department. The main purpose of this role isto manage the firms tax compliance and dealingwith partnership tax and partners’ individual tax arrangements. The successful applicant will have excellent Tax knowledge and come from a partnership tax background.
Responsibilities
- Participation in the efficient completion of all tax compliance obligations in the UK and internationally including income and corporation tax computations and returns, tax provisioning, tax balances, VAT, payroll, tax relief claims and tax payments
- Participating in the management of the Firm’s cash flow by forecasting future tax payments, tax planning and analysis eg capital/cash repatriation, new offices
- Involvement in transfer pricing and other taxation policies in the Firm
- Preparations of LLP members tax reserves for the annual financial accounts, ensuring adequate tax reserves for each partner
- Managing the Partners’ tax payments across the year, checking the figures provided against the reserves and putting the overall information together for the Firm and HMRC
- Liaising with relevant tax authorities and involvement in the annual HMRC liaison visits
- Advising on the Firms’ schedule E, Corporation tax and VAT affair
- Development of individual partners tax reserves, including full reconciliation of aged tax reserve balances so that positions are known on a monthly basis
- Working with the Head of Tax to keep knowledge up to date of changes in tax legislation to ensure the Firm is compliant and there is minimal adverse impact on the LLP.
Candidate Profile
- Professionally qualified (ATT or CTA) or qualified by experience having worked in a similar partnership environment, ideally from a law Firm
- Keen to develop general tax knowledge and be a proactive self-starter with a hands-on approach
- Demonstrate technical tax knowledge supported by experience of advising partners on tax issues with the ability to present quantitative data in a form which is understandable to partners
- Detailed knowledge of UK schedule D statutory rules and regulations for both partners and the partnership
- Knowledge of schedule E and payroll requirements including P11d, P60 and PSA and dispensation requirements
- Knowledge of VAT rules and the preparation of VAT returns
- Knowledge of international tax requirements in relevant geographical areas
- Strong Microsoft Excel Skills
