This is a different offering for the in-house lawyer. Working with a small number of key, household name clients, you will act as an extension of the clients’ legal teams but from modern offices in the centre of Leeds.
There is no traditional time recording or culture of presenteeism and you will be able to use the latest technology (including AI) to assist with advising your clients on fast-paced, interesting, high value, varied, and often complex legal matters. The majority of your work will be commercial contracts-based but, as with other in-house roles, you will also find yourself advising on a range of legal issues involving IT/IP, employment and data protection. There is plenty of variety.
This is a large and growing team of outgoing and supportive solicitors, many of whom have previously worked in-house. You will be assisted by paralegals, ensuring that you are advising on the type of work that is appropriate for your level of expertise. Crucially, you will become ingrained in your clients’ businesses whilst having access to legal know-how support and precedents. Unlike comparative private practice roles at this level, you will also have client relationship responsibilities.
This role would suit someone who has worked or trained in-house but would like to have improved facilities, support, supervision and the opportunity to supervise others. It will also appeal to a private practice Commercial solicitor who would like to move in-house but wants to continue to have access to career progression opportunities and a sociable team of lawyers. This role would certainly offer a junior lawyer enough variety and exposure to good quality work to ensure that they are neither pigeon-holed nor too thinly-spread early on in their career.
You should have at least 12 months’ experience as a Commercial lawyer, either from private practice or in-house.
