**EXCLUSIVE ASSIGNMENT: IN-HOUSE CORPORATE/COMMERCIAL LAWYER**

Coventry Building Society is the 4th largest building society in the UK with in excess of a million customers and assets of almost £15billion. The Society is proud of its mutual heritage and has a longstanding commitment to putting the interests of its members first.

As a result of continued growth in both assets and members, and the increasing involvement of the legal team in all areas of the business, the need has arisen for an additional lawyer, reporting directly to the Head of Legal and Company Secretary. Whilst previous in-house experience is desirable, it is not essential. A desire to build a career in-house is important as this is viewed as a key long-term appointment. More specifically the role will include:

- Proactively contributing to key structured finance and other strategic transactions
- Driving the development, good governance and administration of the Society's pension fund
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreements
- Involvement in other project-related work.

A qualified solicitor or barrister with first-class training and career to date in private practice or in-house, you will have prior experience of corporate/commercial law. Previous experience of banking and finance and/or pensions law would also give you a distinct advantage. With an eye for detail and the ability to interpret the needs of and engage with teams across the business, you will enjoy a high degree of independence and autonomy. Confidence, enthusiasm and flexibility are seen as a pre-requisite.
