Asset Finance Solicitor

Based in London and forming part of the Finance & Projects Group, our Asset Finance practice comprises four partners and has an excellent reputation in the market - credited with handling "a number of big-ticket transactions" (UK Legal 500, 2005), Chambers UK, 2006 comments that "clients appreciate the team's ability to view asset finance from both operator and financier perspectives".

Our team has extensive experience in advising on a wide variety of asset and structured finance projects including the procurement, financing and leasing of aircraft, ships, heavy and light rolling stock, rail infrastructure, film productions and tax-based leasing. We work on a variety of structures and products, including operating leases, finance leases, leveraged leases, Islamic finance and residual value arrangements. We also have extensive experience of structured financing and tax-based transactions. Our client base includes banks and arrangers, major airlines, ship owners and operators, train operating companies and lessors and manufacturers of a variety of assets.

This work invariably involves a cross-border element, and we regularly work with colleagues in the UK and internationally. In the last two years the team has worked on transactions with a combined value in excess of US$10bn.

Due to a marked increase in instructions, the team now seeks to recruit a specialist asset finance solicitor with at least 2 years relevant experience. The individual will be expected to undertake a range of asset finance work in the sectors mentioned above, however we are able to consider candidates who have a bias towards one or more sector rather than a broad range.

Candidates should have a solid academic history and trained and qualified in a highly regarded City or regional finance practice. A willingness to get involved with marketing initiatives and other business development activities of the group is essential.
