Assistant: Aviation - Job Description
We are keen to recruit an Assistant to join our Aviation team. The team is involved in a variety of corporate, commercial, non-contentious and contentious work within the aviation sector. This includes aircraft and aircraft engine acquisition and disposal, finance and leasing, aviation regulatory work (such a route licensing, ATOL, IATA etc), corporate finance and restructuring and a broad range of commercial advice on all aspects of the aviation industry. Aviation clients include UK and foreign scheduled and charter airlines, aircraft lessors, aircraft financiers, airline consolidators, aviation service companies and trade associations.
The Aviation group currently consist of 1 Partner and 2 Assistants. We are looking for an individual with a non-contentious focus.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will enjoy a wide range of transactional work, including:
• preparation of documents relating to the sale, purchase and leasing of aircraft, spare engines, aircraft parts and other equipment; leases; finance documents/loan agreements; maintenance & support agreements; marketing, sales and ground handling agreements;
• acting as the main point of contact for the client;
• adopting a proactive role in the delivery of high quality, practical and commercial legal advice to the clients;
• active participation in the team’s marketing and business development initiatives.
Skills / Experience Required
• minimum of a 2.1 (or equivalent) from a good university;
• excellent drafting skills and attention to detail with the ability to draft reasonably complex documents:
• business acumen with a genuine interest in the client’s commercial needs;
• previous work experience in the aviation and/or asset finance field (ideally in the aviation/rail sectors)
• enthusiasm and the wish to make a positive contribution to the department/Firm.
• excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels;
Other Information
Some UK and international travel may occasionally be required.
This role may also be of interest to foreign qualified lawyers, with relevant experience
