ASSISTANT SOLICITOR, Medical Litigation - Job Description
The work will be dealing with catastrophic injuries, including spinal and brain. These injuries will have been sustained mainly as a result of road traffic accidents or medical negligence. The position will initially be supporting 2 partners in the department. The work is exclusively claimant-based.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Proactively manage own files and support 2 partners, both of whom deal with catastrophic injury work;
• Preparing thoroughly documentation required in the preparation of cases to trial;
• liaising with counsel/experts;
• liaising with clients and handling matters with the appropriate sensitivity.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• up to 3 yrs pqe of relevant UK claimant work experience in the field of catastrophic injury;
• should be able to demonstrate experience in and a talent for marketing;
• an ability to build relationships with the client, family, witnesses, counsel and experts;
• enthusiastic team player with commitment to quality and client care;
• excellent case management skills;
• strong academics essential minimum 2:1 or equivalent from a recognised UK University.
OTHER INFORMATION
• the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a real commitment to and empathy with the cause of the client.
• The aim is for the individual to gain membership of AVMA and the Law Societies Medical Negligence and Personal Injury Panels.
