Business Development Executive - Job Description

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has an excellent opportunity for a talented Business Development Executive to provide dedicated relationship management and business development support to our financial services sector group. Focusing on the banking sector, you will have a crucial role in maximising relationships with key clients, ensuring best practice and results on relationship management are shared amongst the client teams.

As a Business Development Executive you will work closely with partners and client teams to shape the strategic direction of the business relationship with our financial services clients, assist with the day to day management and delivery of the relationship, and manage the business development budget for each client bank to ensure adequate spend on corporate hospitality and events.

As a Business Development Executive your main responsibilities will involve:

• Defining strategic objectives for the client relationship derived from thorough analysis of the firm's competitive position against the client's key market, formulating action plans to achieve these objectives
• Developing an understanding of client's strategy, products and services and ensuring it is communicated / shared across the client team
• Identifying reporting lines, key decision makers, areas of work and gaps in our coverage of the relationship
• Conducting financial analysis to identify and better understand the source of revenue in line with client's own organisation
• Identifying and following up on cross selling opportunities for other practice groups as well as other areas of potential growth
• Coordinating and overseeing the organisation and delivery of appropriate seminars and events, including managing the business development budget
• Working with the relationship partners and client teams to assist with the planning of and preparation for external relationship review meetings
• Providing assistance and training to client team members, promoting use of the internal CRM database
• Working closely with the other members of the FIG business development team to support the overall business plan for the banks sub-sector within FIG

As a Business Development Executive your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
• Degree educated or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Business planning and analysis skills
• Experience of client relationship management
• Experience of report and presentation writing
• Ability to proactively drive the relationships forward in the context of busy, transaction-oriented fee earners
• Willingness and desire to be advocate for strategic client relationship management with fee earners and within business development
• Experience working in a legal or professional services firm desirable, preferably at an international level
• Knowledge of the financial services sector an advantage
• Relevant business / marketing qualification desirable
