China Commercial Real Estate Lawyer - Job Description

Baker & McKenzie, a leading international law firm, has built a pre-eminent practice in Hong Kong, the PRC and the Asia Pacific region. The Hong Kong office, which was established in 1974, as well as being a major law practice in Hong Kong, is one of the largest offices in the Firm’s international network, with over 200 lawyers and a total staff of about 550.

Our Property Practice Group is a full-service property practice engaged in a wide range of practice areas including REITs, property developments, cross-border acquisitions, property related joint ventures, financing, acquisitions, leasing and general and project conveyancing. Its clients include major developers, institutional investors, funds, statutory bodies, major banks, chain restaurants and eminent retailers.

Exceptional opportunities exist in this busy Group for a China Commercial Real Estate Lawyer with at least 5 years’ solid experience in commercial real estate and/or hotel transactions. Successful candidates should have had substantial exposure to complex China commercial real estate transactions (both corporate and real estate aspects). Fully bilingual, with either spoken Putongua or Cantonese, and the ability to read and write Chinese is essential. Willingness to be based in Beijing or Shanghai will be an advantage.

We will also consider applicants for junior positions who have solid Hong Kong/US commercial real estate experience and reasonable exposure to China transactions, but want to develop a legal career in the vast China property market.

We offer competitive remuneration packages, involvement in cutting-edge work and excellent opportunities for career advancement. Our Property Practice Group is a closely-knitted group which offers a friendly and supportive working environment.

Baker & McKenzie is a member of Baker & McKenzie International, a Swiss Verein.
