Company and Commercial NQ Solicitor - Newcastle

We are looking for one ambitious, hard-working and bright newly qualified solicitor to join the Corporate Group in Newcastle.

The Corporate Group forms part of the Company & Commercial Department, and is one of the largest groupings within the firm with 15 partners and 35 fee earners in total. We are planning a further expansion and are budgeting for a 10% increase in the team size and fee income next year. Whilst some of this expansion will come from our corporate practice in Yorkshire, significant growth in the North East is also planned.

The work is varied and will provide opportunities for all aspects of "commercial lawyering", including plenty of opportunities for client contact, meetings and (quite possibly) client secondments, drafting complex documentation, negotiating transactions, and managing projects and liaising with specialists within and outside the firm.

The Group works with many other teams within the firm on the full range of corporate transactions, and the roles on offer will involve working on a full range of corporate transactions including public and private company mergers and acquisitions, all aspects of corporate law regulatory work, business start-ups, share and business sales and purchases, joint ventures and shareholder agreements, stock market flotations, management buy-outs, venture capital work for private equity houses, and possibly, some financial services regulatory work.

The appointee will possess a genuine interest in and desire to be involved in the "property world", commercial awareness, good technical skills, a willingness to learn and to take responsibility for self-development, ambition, drive and stamina, good team-working skills, ability to manage projects, and a good sense of humour and positive attitude.
