Corporate Professional Support Lawyer - 4+ years' PQE - Job Description
A vacancy has arisen for a professional support lawyer to join our PSL function to provide support to our Corporate group.
We seek applications from qualified lawyers with a minimum of four years' PQE, which will include experience of handling corporate/M&A transactions/public company work. We will consider candidates who have a wish to work part-time/flexibly.
Candidates should have a strong academic background, an agile intellect, commercial acumen and a practical, constructive approach. This opportunity would be suitable for either a fee earning Corporate lawyer wanting to move to a support role or a current Practice Support Lawyer looking for a new challenge.
The purpose of the role is to ensure that our corporate lawyers have up-to-date knowledge of developments in law, practice and commercial activity in our client’s sectors and to develop tools such as precedents and know-how to support them in efficient working practices. This is an interesting and varied role involving know-how, training, marketing support and liaison with management and support departments. The firm is of a substantial size, with 64 partners, and the professional support/know how function is recognised as playing an important role in ensuring the quality of service we provide to clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Working alone (and with other PSLs across the firm) in researching, collecting, summarising and disseminating information;
· Creating and maintaining precedents and other standard documentation;
· Developing, managing and maintaining a desktop IT support system (including the extraction of relevant information from lawyers and ensuring its appropriate classification in the system);
· Working with our library facility in the provision of complementary services to our lawyers;
· Working with the training department and training partners to identify appropriate topics for lectures and seminars; assisting the training department in the management of such events; delivering and assisting in training junior level lawyers, developing knowledge and practical skills;
· Occasional fee earning assistance/support to partners/senior lawyers with discrete research requests;
· Assisting (including liaison with Marketing where appropriate) in marketing initiatives including keeping lawyers appraised of the latest news and developments involving clients and targets; liaison with external PR consultants; in securing publication of articles in legal and national press; assisting in writing articles for external publication; assisting in the preparation of seminars/presentations and brochures; assist in updating RPC web site.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Technical experience as described under “Context” above with 4 + years’ pqe in relevant practice area
Excellent communication skills

Good IT and typing skills without requiring secretarial support
