Corporate Tax Lawyer (From 3yrs+ PQE)

Brief

We are currently looking to recruit a Corporate Tax lawyer with 3+ years' post qualification experience to join our Birmingham Tax Group.

The Team

The Tax Group has two teams, tax and share schemes.

The national tax team has 7 partners and 13 lawyers working in 3 offices London, Birmingham and Leeds. The Birmingham tax team consists of two partners, Ian Hyde and Lisa Stevenson, one senior associate and three solicitors

Background

A core area of our practice is providing tax consultancy advice on corporate structures and transactions. We work closely with other teams in the firm to provide an integrated one stop approach to transaction structuring.
We regularly work for listed companies, foreign owned companies, institutional investors and banks in maximising the tax effectiveness of all types of commercial transactions, including:
•Restructurings and demergers
•Mergers and acquisitions
•Joint ventures and partnering
•Funding transactions including structured finance and asset finance
•Distribution agreements and intellectual property exploitation arrangements
•Outsourcing
•Private equity investments and exits
•Contested tax issues

The Candidate Required

The ideal candidate will have mainstream corporate tax experience (M&A, venture capital, company reconstructions, inward investment) together with property tax (SDLT, VAT planning, development and investment structures) public/private structures and management taxation. They will work with all types of our clients – plcs, foreign controlled companies, venture capital houses, public sector bodies and be involved in the size and depth of London quality work.

The successful candidate will ideally have gained experience in a City firm or large regional practice. Candidates must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. They will be a team player with a strong client focussed approach. They will also have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills.
