A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Corporate Tax lawyer to join our Corporate team (we will consider applicants who wish to work on a part-time basis but ideally we are looking for a full time lawyer).
Work includes all aspects of corporate transactions, including advising on structuring transactions tax-efficiently and group tax planning, as well as advising on legal documentation. Knowledge of VAT and stamp duty land tax would be helpful.
Candidates should have 3+ years experience of providing tax advice on corporate transactions and general corporate advisory (including acquisitions/disposals, joint ventures, start-ups, reorganizations / demergers, partnerships, corporate/private financings, flotations/listing etc). Many of the clients are in the media and technology sectors and the group also works closely with other practice areas from within the firm, particularly property and professional liability. The department advises a significant number of foreign multi-national groups on UK tax-planning.
Recent work includes:
· Advising a UK listed group on a series of private company acquisitions, including advice on earn-outs and management incentive schemes
· Advising a major foreign international group on the cross-Europe acquisition of a trading division of another multinational
· Advising UK resident individuals on the sale of a trading group with cross-holdings in Australia and Asia
· AIM and full LSE listed transactions - tax structuring and prospectus disclosure
· Advice to a foreign multinational on a worldwide tax reorganisation
· Tax structure for a US client funding UK property development
Position requirements:
At least 3 years’ plus experience of high quality corporate tax work, preferably gained in the City
Strong academic record
Sound intellect with proven ability to work creatively under pressure
Ability to give practical, clear adviceExcellent oral and written communication skills
Well organised and able to work to deadlines
Motivated and enthusiastic
Confident and robust personality
