DATA PROTECTION/COMMERCIAL LAWYERS REQUIRED AT GLOBAL TELCO

Our client has just released TWO new INTEIM roles – one is a rare opportunity to utilize your Data Protection and Commercial/IT skillset while the other is a purely Commercial/IT focused role. Both positions are at a household name telecommunications company in Berkshire.

The successful applicant for the DATA PROTECTION position will provide legal advice and support to various functions within the business with a focus on privacy and data protection law and lawful interception and disclosure. You will work closely with the privacy experts in the legal department and subsidiary companies on relevant privacy issues.

As well as the specific data protection work you will be required by the business to more generally:
• Identify risks and assist in problem-solving complex legal issues
• Provide advice on research and collaboration agreements, software development agreements and licences and other commercial agreements (and assist in their negotiation where appropriate)

You will:
• come from a strong commercial background, preferably within the IT or Telco sectors
• preferably have experience of managing data protection queries and issues
• have proven ability in drafting and negotiation;
• be experienced in project management, team working and influencing/persuading others
• be commercially aware, and conscious also of issues within the wider communications and media sectors;
• have a good current knowledge of relevant law (particularly Data Protection matters) and an awareness of legal developments that may affect the business.

The successful COMMERCIAL/IT candidate will provide legal advice and support to various functions within the business, identifying risks and assist in problem-solving/advising on complex legal issues such as research and collaboration agreements, software development agreements and licences and other commercial agreements (and assist in their negotiation where appropriate)

You will:
• come from a strong commercial background, preferably within the IT or Telco sectors
• have proven ability in drafting and negotiation;
• be experienced in project management, team working and influencing/persuading others
• be commercially aware, and conscious also of issues within the wider communications and media sectors;
• have a good current knowledge of relevant law and an awareness of legal developments that may affect the business.

Both roles are based in Newbury, Berkshire, but for the Data Protection position there is potential to work 1-2 days per week from a London office.
