Duties:
The following list is illustrative:
• Develop a global team capable of maintaining a high level of responsiveness to meet the needs of our customer calls and inquiries.
• Liaise between Firm management, sponsors, users and other IS personnel to communicate issues regarding overall operations status, operations strategy and plans.
• Where appropriate, attend user groups independently or with senior managers.
• Monitor Service Level Agreements and make recommendations of how improvements can be made.
• Responsible for the evaluation of relevant new products deemed to be appropriate to the Firm’s business.
• Make recommendations to improve the use of all Mayer Brown products/applications.
• Responsible for ensuring preventative maintenance in your field of expertise is regularly planned and implemented.
• Electronic Mail - manage email communications for the Firm’s global operations.
Monitor, maintain and support all computer systems employed by the Firm.
• Documentation – manage documentation of equipment for the Firm’s EMEA operations.
• Hardware/Software Support – technical liaison to the Hardware/Software Vendors for resolving hardware/software issues for the Firm’s EMEA operations.
• Enforce how equipment is built, tested and installed and business continuity plans are created for areas of their responsibility.
• Network – manage monitor and troubleshoot the network infrastructure for the Firm’s EMEA operation.
• Work with the IS management and staff to integrate and continually evolve operations program/project management methods and practices. Anticipate and mobilize departmental resources needed to accomplish project results.
• As required, participate in the development of RFP/RFI documentation for vendor selection. Oversee the development, analysis and recommendation of vendors based on prioritized evaluation criteria. Create and manage strategic vendor relationships. Monitor overall plan, progress and implement contingencies to meet changing project and resource needs.
• Responsible for ensuring all appropriate hardware is built, configured and maintained in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines and Firm standards.
• Ensure that all quality assurance practices are adhered to.
Responsible for ensuring that risk assessments are made before all changes take place.
• Ensure a good proactive working relationship is maintained between your team and other teams within the IS Department and the users.
• Ensure all downtime, regular preventative maintenance, security patch updates and software upgrades are communicated to all teams.
• Responsible for ensuring your team complies with the IS Department’s change request system.
• Responsible for the management of all assigned projects and operational sections of the annual budget.
• Ensure overall relevant server and telecommunications software licensing compliance is accurate and current.
• Review/define positions in your area of responsibility and where appropriate, interview and recruit required staff (working closely with your direct reporting line manager).
• Participate in appraisal/reviews, performance management and grievance guidance, if required.
Personal Profile:
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong understanding of project management principles.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills and thorough by nature.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and a keen level of attention to detail.
• Must be client focused with the ability to develop good relationships.
Technical Abilities:
• 5+ years of working with Microsoft applications.
• 5+ years of server, user and network administration.
• 2+ years of project planning, implementation and management.
• 2+ years of supervising systems analysts and technicians in networking, server and PC hardware, software, printing and troubleshooting methodology.
Qualifications:
• Batchelor’s degree in the field of computer science or information systems.
• Good working knowledge of ITIL Certification for Operational Procedures.
• Experienced or qualified in HP Server build
Salary:
Market rate – commensurate with experience.
Hours:
Monday – Friday 9.30am – 5.30pm with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business.
