A large Fund/Pensions house requires a paralegal to work on a 6mth contract within their compliance and legal function. They are looking for someone to liaise with their compliance professionals and legal team in order to fulfil their regulatory requirements with respect to the implementation of MiFID in November.
The role will have a joint reporting line to the Head of Compliance and an Associate Director in Legal and will include the following responsibilities:
- gaining a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the business of Hermes in the run up to the implementation of MiFID (attending internal or external seminars as necessary).
- assisting in the development of Hermes' standard terms of business for MiFID compliance.
- understanding the implications of, and assisting in the production of, Hermes Best Execution Policy.
- monitoring market developments with regard to legal and regulatory issues and contractual matters in the run-up to MiFID.
- coordinating a review of counterparties' standard terms of business and execution policies as they are received and negotiating terms with counterparties having regard to Hermes' own standard terms and business requirements.
- liaising with internal legal and compliance professionals and commercial colleagues as necessary.
- liaising with external legal advisers as necessary.
- implementing standard checklists and procedures for managing the process of counterparty documentation following the implementation of MiFID.
- assisting in ad-hoc MiFID or non-MiFID specific legal and compliance matters.
- assisting in the day-to-day management of legal and compliance matters relevant to the business of Hermes as a whole.
