Freelance Lawyers/ Consultants - London

Cocolaw is a new kind of law firm. It was established with two simple principles in mind: (i) to provide clients with smart, business minded lawyers at fair rates and (ii) to provide smart lawyers with a chance to be in business themselves.

We’re embracing a fresh approach to legal services. We’ve spent some considerable time developing an understanding of what clients dislike about conventional legal services and are in the business of addressing those specific concerns. To this end, we recruit first rate, business minded lawyers; make time to learn about our clients’ corporate aspirations; offer flexible fee structures that give clients budgetary control and commit to agreed delivery times. We intend to demonstrate that a client-centred approach must be the way forward for legal service providers.
We’re changing the way lawyers work too. We’re against the 24-7 culture prescribed by many law firms and although we do require a strong work ethic in our lawyers, we believe in encouraging a better work-life balance. Coco lawyers choose their hours of work and their assignments and in this way can build a business around their other commitments.

If you can identify with our aspirations and consider yourself to be a genuinely commercial lawyer with an entrepreneurial spirit, are confident, self-motivated and eager to begin a career as a freelance lawyer, we want to hear from you.

As a guide, we’re looking for the following qualities in our new advisers:

1. Private practice training with a leading law firm;
2. Industry/in-house experience;
3. 5 or more years of excellent company commercial experience;
4. Excellent presentation, drafting and negotiation skills;
5. Ability to report directly to CEO and/ Senior Management;
6. Strong work ethic with a commitment to exceeding client expectations;
7. A genuine wish to work part-time/flexibly on a freelance basis, and most importantly;
8. A commitment to giving business driven advice.
