The Firm

This charity department is now the largest outside London with nine lawyers devoted specifically to this area of expertise. The team currently comprises three partners, two associates, three assistant solicitors and one consultant. The team provides legal services to over 400 of the UK's largest charities (many household names), independent schools and City Academies and has recently been ranked third charity law firm in the UK in terms of the highest number of clients among the country's top 3000 charities.

The team provides legacy advice and constitutional and governance advice to charities and independent schools, and within this team a group of four litigators deals with contentious probate cases. Overall the team provides clients with leading-edge advice, normally only found at the London firms. With charities being very commercially aware they are keen to take advantage of our regional rates.
Fee income from charities now represents more than 10% of the firm's £14 million turnover. The department's growth is a key part of the strategy and development of the firm.

The Role

My client is now looking for somebody to head this ambitious and dynamic team. The suitable candidate will specialise in constitutional/governance/regulatory work, will have experience of leading and managing a team, and have a proven track record of commercial awareness in a highly competitive market place.
