Head of Legal for a large financial house

It is targeting positive capital returns through an expansive portfolio comprising highly diversified asset classes and active investment management strategies. Its investments cover real estate, fixed income and direct and Private Equity funds. It is now seeking to recruit a Head of Legal to help drive its growth and success.

Reporting to the Managing Director responsibilities will be broad and geared towards providing a full service in-house legal department to the business. More specifically, you will, with your team have day to day responsibility for reviewing, advising, drafting, negotiating and project managing in each of the following areas of business: Asset Management (traditional and non traditional asset classes including hedge funds), Private Equity Funds, Corporate Finance and Advisory, Real Estate & Real Estate Funds, Alternative Investments, Capital Markets and Fixed Income. Given the complexity, volume and size of the investments, you will also need to work closely with and manage external counsel in multiple jurisdictions.

This is a high-profile and exciting opportunity for a senior lawyer to lead and manage a small but dedicated in-house legal team, participate in the growth of the organization by establishing a full service in-house legal team. To qualify in this role you will have at least 10 to 15 years’ experience and be strong in Corporate/Corporate Finance, Private Equity, Project Finance or Asset Management/Hedge Funds. You will appreciate regional, religious and cultural norms and sensibilities, be affable, confident, and diplomatic and be solution orientated and have outstanding team management mentoring and motivation skills. Fluency in English and Arabic and regional experience is strongly preferred.
