The Location – Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is one hour drive from central Dubai and unlike it’s brash and lively neighbour, not built on leveraged investment. The capital accounts for 90% of the UAE’s oil reserves and is becoming the cultural capital of the UAE with global institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum and the Louvre art gallery being built in the city. With the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix set to take place next year, this is truly a city on the up.

In a country where you are unlikely to pay any tax whatsoever, the weather is bright and sunny for the majority of the year and you live next to the beach, the quality of life is exceptional.

The Company – Leading Real Estate Master Developer

Our client is already a market leader, yet the current growth plans will see them expand rapidly over the coming two years. Projections for projects under construction by the end of 2009 will be USD 7 billion. Development projects will cover mixed use residential / office / retail, industrial, waterfront and infrastructure.

The Remit – Strategy, Autonomy, Ownership

Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will be given a great deal of autonomy with the scope to develop a team with responsibility for drafting contracts, negotiation, numerous industry standard main and sub-contracts, bid agreements, appointments, guarantees, bonds, warranties and ad hoc project work.

In addition, the Head of Legal will work closely with both the Chairman and CEO to ensure all legal risks are controlled, working directly on the current and future strategy of the business.

The Individual – Ambitious, Intelligent, Corporate

The successful candidate for this role will be a qualified lawyer with experience of the real estate development market in the Middle East. You should be corporate, ambitious, professional and commercially astute, with a desire to take ownership and give direction to the future strategy of this business.
